Calle 13 Sweep Latin Grammys

Urban duo Calle 13, which led nominations for the 10th annual Latin Grammys, were also the lead winners of the evening, taking home five Latin Grammys. Those included album of the year and best urban music album for “Los de Atrás Vienen Conmigo” (Sony Latin), best short form video for “La Perla” and record of the year and best alternative song for “No Hay Nadie Como Tú,” a track with Mexican alternative group Cafe Tacuba.

But the big star of the 10th annual Latin Grammy Awards, which aired live on the Univision network from Las Vegas’ Mandalay Bay Events Center, was Latin Recording Academy person of the year Juan Gabriel, who performed live for at least 40 minutes -- an unprecedented occurrence for a live awards show.

Juan Gabriel strutted on and off stage, walking among audience members, who stayed solidly on their feet past the end of the show -- which went several minutes past its three-hour duration to accommodate Juan Gabriel’s performance. In the end, it was hard to determine if this was an award show or a live Juan Gabriel show. Although ratings were not immediately available, the presumption was that minute by minute ratings were strong to justify the show going over its announced three-hour duration by more than 25 minutes.

Dance in Cuba 2009 IV World Meeting for Dancers of Casino & Salsa

Dance in Cuba 2009 (Baila en Cuba). The event will be held in Ciudad de La Habana on 21-28 November 2009 and it will be dedicated to the Rumba. That is the propitious time to get in Cuba dancers from all over the world together through Cuban rhythms.

The forth edition of Dance in Cuba Meeting will gather dancers from Europe and Latin-America and will include dance academies presentations and workshops by professors from art schools, as well as concerts performed by the main popular music orchestras. The program contains other attractions as choreography workshops and traditional Casino lessons.

There will be also lectures on popular Cuban dances, like rumba, mambo, cha cha cha and conga.

Tinchy Stryder Announced 2010 Tour Dates & Tickets

The lovely Tinchy Stryder will be up on stage dancing about and singing about stuff next February. He’s got it all planned, he figures that if he features some new songs and some old songs and wears sunglasses, then loads of people will buy tickets and go along to watch. A grime artist from East London, Stryder has been doing ok recently with a clutch of number ones under his belt, including one called ‘number 1’, a best selling album ‘Star in the Hood’, a new album ‘Catch 22’ doing pretty well and a bunch of feats to boast about, including N-Dubz, Craig David, Amelle Berrabah, Lil John and Chipmunk.

Stryder features on the War Child charity cover of ‘All Thse Things I’ve Done’ by The Killers which also feats the talents of Chipmunk, N-Dubtz and Pixie Lotts. The single is due to be released this month.
